NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport has provided an update on how Bryce Young, the former Alabama standout now playing for the Carolina Panthers, has been preparing for his second NFL season. Young, who had a challenging rookie year, is working hard to enhance his performance both on and off the field.
Young’s first season with the Panthers was less than stellar, as the team ended with a league-low 2-15 record. The 2023 first overall draft pick drew some criticism as Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud, selected second overall, earned the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award. This situation led to growing concerns about Young’s potential.
However, the Panthers have made significant changes in their organization to support Young’s development. They hired Dave Canales as head coach, bolstered the offensive line with two key signings, traded for wide receiver Diontae Johnson, and added draft picks such as wide receiver Xavier Leggette and running back Jonathan Brooks. These moves are designed to improve the team and provide Young with the necessary tools to succeed.
According to Rapoport, Canales and several Panthers players have noted Young’s growth as a leader during the offseason. This evolution in leadership has been crucial as the team prepares for the new season. Rapoport, who observed Panthers’ training camp, highlighted Young’s central role and growing presence on the team.
