The New Orleans Saints made a pair of roster moves on Sunday, signing veteran offensive lineman Jesse Davis to a contract while placing tackle Justin Herron on injured reserve.

 

Davis, a 32-year-old journeyman, brings a wealth of experience to the Saints’ O-line, having played for six teams since entering the league in 2015. He has started 72 games at various positions, including left guard, left tackle, right guard, and right tackle.

 

“Jesse’s versatility and experience will be a valuable asset to our offensive line,” said Saints head coach, Dennis Allen. “We’re excited to have him on board.”

 

Herron, meanwhile, was placed on IR due to an undisclosed injury. The tackle had been competing for a starting spot on the Saints’ line but will now miss an extended period.

 

To fill the roster spot, the Saints signed guard Tremayne Anchrum Jr., a 2020 seventh-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Rams. Anchrum, 6-2, 314, will provide depth to the Saints’ interior line.

 

In a corresponding move, the Saints waived OL Mark Evans II to make room for the new signings.

 

The Saints’ O-line has been a focus of attention this offseason, with the team seeking to bolster its depth and talent. Davis’ signing is a significant move in that direction, and his experience will be crucial in helping to stabilize the line.

 

“We’re always looking to improve our roster,” said Saints GM, Mickey Loomis. “Jesse’s addition does just that, and we’re excited to see him contribute.”

 

With training camp underway, the Saints will look to solidify their O-line and build a strong foundation for the upcoming season.
