Report: The 22year old phillies suffered an injury scare during his May 3 start
Among the Philadelphia Phillies’ up-and-coming stars, one prospect in particular has gained significant traction in recent weeks with respect to their potential and future value in the organization. That player is former sixth-round pick George Klassen, selected by the Phillies back in the 2023 MLB Draft. 
The 22-year-old right-handed pitcher has been nothing short of sensational so far in his first professional season with the Single-A Clearwater Threshers. In four April starts, Klassen went 2-0 with a stellar 0.57 WHIP while holding opponents to just one unearned run. He issued just five walks and recorded a whopping 32 strikeouts in 21 innings.
His performance earned him the Florida State League Pitcher of the Month honors, as well as the Phillies’ organizational Minor League Pitcher of the Month award for April.

Klassen was hoping to continue his dominating success entering May when he suffered an injury scare during his May 3 start against the Lakeland Flying Tigers. After cruising through the first four innings and finally giving up his first earned run on the season, he was forced to leave the game due to what was classified as a right upper arm/shoulder issue.
ortunately, according to the Phillies, the injury isn’t expected to be serious, as reported by Todd Zolecki of MLB.com.
The news certainly comes with a huge sigh of relief since many top pitching prospects around the league have gone down to more serious injuries, such as the Toronto Blue Jays’ Brandon Barriera and the Phillies’ own Andrew Painter just last season.
Currently ranked by MLB Pipeline as the team’s No. 29 prospect, Klassen has come a long way since the draft, making the necessary adjustments to become a more effective pitcher. He has filled out his body with muscle for better control while fine-tuning and simplifying his delivery. It would be a shame if his current injury slows his growth and development for the coming season, as he appears to be on a fast track through the Phillies minor league system.
Hopefully, the issue turns out to be just a minor ailment, and Klassen will be back annihilating opposing hitters once again in no time.
