The Texas Longhorns will no longer be getting a visit from five-star 2024 wide receiver Ryan Williams, according to reports from On3. His visit was scheduled for this coming weekend. Williams is coming off of visits to Tuscaloosa and College Station and is scheduled to visit Auburn on February 3.
Williams, who recently reclassified from the 2025 class to the 2024 class, de-committed from the Crimson Tide following the retirement of legendary head coach Nick Saban. He currently ranks No. 12 player nationally, No. 4 wide receiver, and No. 2 player in the state of Alabama, per the On3 Industry Ranking. Before his reclassification, Williams was the No. 1 receiver in the 2025 class. Williams is also a teammate of 2025 Longhorns QB commit, K.J. Lacey.
With Lacey throwing him the football, Williams amassed 160 catches for 2,965 yards and 43 touchdowns over the last two seasons, becoming one of the most dynamic QB/wide receiver combinations in the entire country. The Longhorns were hoping to add Williams to a team that is attempting to replace 217 catches, 3,046 yards, and 19 touchdowns with Xavier Worthy, Adonai Mitchell, Jordan Whittington, and Ja’Tavion Sanders all off to the NFL. However, it appears that the Horns may now be out of that race.
That said, with Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden, and Silas Bolden coming in, alongside Johntay Cook II, DeAndre Moore, five-star freshman Ryan Wingo, and four-stars Aaron Butler, Parker Livingstone, and Freddie Dubose Jr., there will still be no shortage of talent in Austin at the position. Williams is set to make his decision and sign his letter of intent in February.
