Young Sheffield Wednesday striker Will Grainger has committed his long-term future

Young Sheffield Wednesday striker Will Grainger has committed his long-term future to the Owls by signing a new three-year professional contract that will keep him at Hillsborough until 2029. The highly rated 17-year-old had attracted interest from several clubs, but chose to continue his development with his boyhood side.

Grainger described the moment as “the best feeling of my life,” insisting there was never any doubt about where he wanted to play. The young forward said he believes Sheffield Wednesday is the perfect place to develop, adding that he is determined to perform for the supporters and help the club build a brighter future after a difficult campaign.

Sporting Director Simon Wilson hailed the deal as a significant step for the club, describing Grainger as one of the strongest young talents in his age group. He praised the striker’s rapid development and stressed that Sheffield Wednesday remain committed to developing academy players into first-team regulars while supporting Grainger through the challenges of professional football.

Grainger made eight senior appearances last season and scored his first first-team goal against Oxford United, underlining why many supporters see him as one of the club’s brightest prospects. His new contract is viewed as a major boost for Sheffield Wednesday as they continue rebuilding for the future.
