**IRVINE, Calif. —** New Orleans Saints coach Dennis Allen has previously voiced his frustration regarding Kendre Miller, especially after the running back sustained yet another injury at the start of training camp.
However, Allen’s approach to Marshon Lattimore is notably different. Despite Lattimore missing his second consecutive practice due to a hip flexor injury, Allen isn’t overly concerned about the cornerback’s condition. Lattimore, who has struggled with injuries over the past two years and missed a significant number of games, injured his hip during a practice on July 26, just three days into the camp.
“It’s concerning, but I’m not losing a lot of sleep over it right now,” Allen remarked. “The positive aspect is that we have strong depth at the cornerback position, which allows us to manage his absence effectively.”
Lattimore’s name had come up in trade rumors during the offseason, but both he and the Saints reaffirmed their commitment to each other when he reported for mandatory minicamp in June. In his last interaction with the media, Lattimore expressed his desire to prove he remains one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL. He acknowledged that achieving this goal hinged on maintaining his health.
“I want him to recover fully and return to the field,” Allen added. “Lattimore is a crucial component of our defensive strategy when we are performing at our best. He’s playing at a high level, so we’re hopeful he can complete his rehab and get back on the field sooner rather than later.”
