This suggestion arises from Devers’ recent refusal to switch positions following a season-ending injury to first baseman Triston Casas. Initially moved from third base to designated hitter after the acquisition of Alex Bregman, Devers has now declined to play first base, leading to friction with the team’s management.
Rose highlighted that Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow, who did not oversee Devers’ \$313.5 million extension, might be inclined to trade the player, stating, “He’s a \$300M DH. You know how much I could get him?”
