In a devastating turn of events for the tennis world, Spanish tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz has officially withdrawn from Wimbledon 2025 due to a persistent wrist injury, dealing a major blow to his hopes of another Grand Slam title this season.

The 21-year-old, currently ranked among the top players in the world, made the announcement through a statement released by his management early Thursday morning.

“After weeks of rehab and medical evaluation, I’ve made the heartbreaking decision to withdraw from Wimbledon,” Alcaraz said. “I love playing on grass and competing in London, but my team and I agree that my health must come first.”

Alcaraz had been battling discomfort in his right wrist since the clay court season, and although he had shown signs of recovery, recent scans revealed the risk of aggravating the injury if he continued.

Wimbledon organizers responded with support, saying in a statement: “Carlos is one of the most electrifying talents in the sport. While we’ll miss his presence this year, we fully support his decision and wish him a speedy recovery.”

Alcaraz’s withdrawal shifts the competitive landscape at the All England Club, opening the draw for other contenders but leaving fans disappointed at the absence of one of the tour’s most exciting stars.

The young Spaniard, a former Wimbledon champion, is now focusing on recovering in time for the North American hard court season and the US Open later this summer.
