CARMEL, Calif. — A sleepy beach town nestled off the Central Coast, a place once made famous for having Clint Eastwood serve as mayor, there is a new candidate for mayor – athletic director and head football coach Golden Anderson.

With college football coaches from all over the country converging in Carmel this spring, Anderson has done his best to send coaches to local restaurants or trips to the Fisherman’s Wharf in nearby Monterey, anything to kill time until those coaches can see the newest attraction in the city.

Anderson’s prized pupil, four-star offensive lineman Jackson Lloyd, is drawing coaches from all over the country to the central coast of California, 120 miles from San Francisco and 75 miles south of San Jose.
