The Georgia Bulldogs have become renowned for developing some of the best tight ends in all of college football. Brock Bowers of course just wrapped up one of the best tight end careers in college football history. And under Kirby Smart the Bulldogs have now sent a tight end to the NFL six straight years in a row.
The tight end position has become a pivotal part of where Kirby Smart teams lean on offense to create mismatches for their quarterbacks to take advantage of, so getting that position right proves crucial every season. Thankfully, grizzled veteran Oscar Delp and star sophomore Lawson Luckie are returning for 2025, but given how talented that duo is Georgia could be without both of them in 2026. The good news? Their next potential Brock Bowers just reclassified to the 2026 recruiting class.
Mark Bowman, a consensus five star in the 2027 recruiting class announced over the weekend that he would be reclassifying to 2026, providing some offensive fire power much earlier than expected for one lucky school. Georgia is officially a part of his final 12 schools, but Bowman has been quoted recently saying, “They’re in my top three, no doubt about it.”, in reference to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.

Mark Bowman is a wildly talented tight end prospect; one of the most talented in the last several years of recruiting classes. Already 6’4″, 225 pounds as a sophomore in high school, he spent last fall shredding the best talent in the country playing for the esteemed Mater Dei program in Santa Ana, California. Whoever lands him will have a potential immediate starter who brings explosive value in the receiving game.
If Georgia is going to land Bowman, Kirby Smart is going to have to keep him away from several SEC rivals and blue blood programs around the country. Bowman has already logged recent visits with Alabama, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas, USC, and more. He’s set to visit with Florida, Miami, Ohio State, and Tennessee in the spring as well before setting his final official visits for the summer.
Recruiting a top tier talent amid all that competition may sound daunting, but Georgia is clearly one of Bowman’s top options. He’s logged multiple visits with Smart and his staff already, and if the Bulldogs remain in his top three they’ll likely get an official this summer. Sealing the deal on a recruit who lives 2000 miles away from Athens might be tough, but it’s possible given all the work already put into Bowman’s recruitment and how the Bulldogs utilize their tight ends.
Given how many more visits and decisions need to be made for Mark Bowman on his newly accelerated recruiting timeline it’s unlikely he commits any time soon. Hopefully, Bowman actually holds off on making anything official until the fall so he can witness Lawson Luckie and Oscar Delp likely post their career best seasons in year three and four, respectively. Seeing one more season of what could be for him with the Bulldogs might just get him to Athens.
