Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Will Vaulks has explained what kept him awake on Sunday night after Barry Bannan’s charity event.
Barry Bannan held his first charity event since he was appointed as the new ambassador of The Children’s Hospital Charity at the weekend.
The Q&A event was held at the Mercure St Paul’s Hotel & Spa, which was hosted by Steve Bracknall, and welcomed supporters to ask questions, meet players, enjoy music from Jon McClure and have a three-course meal.
Dominic Iorfa, Josh Windass, Liam Palmer, Cameron Dawson, Callum Paterson, Michael Smith and Will Vaulks were all in attendance to support their captain, while Bannan went onto welcome a surprise guest.
Manager Danny Rohl was caught on video as he arrived into the venue and made his way onto the stage, only for all the attendees to get to their feet and sing his name to the tune of Boney M’s ‘Daddy Cool’.
The German coach appeared to be entertained by his serenade as he shook hands with fans and eventually got photos with them too. It now seems like the players were just as impressed, with Vaulks claiming he had the song stuck in his head for the rest of the night.
Speaking to The Star journalist Joe Crann after last night’s win over Plymouth Argyle, Vaulks said: “”To be fair, once it’s in your head you’re struggling aren’t you? Yeah, from that the other night, I couldn’t sleep for about two hours because I couldn’t get it out my head!
“He wouldn’t have had that before he came here, but it definitely works and the fans love it. I’m sure if we stay up they’ll be singing that for years to come.”

The song will definitely stick around for the final months of the campaign, and no doubt supporters will be singing his name no matter what happens at the end.
Danny Rohl has completely transformed this squad and has given both the players and the fans a sense of belief that wasn’t there before. The club looked destined for relegation after only three months of the season, but now they have an unbelievable chance at staying up for a further year.
No matter what happens at the end of the season and in the summer, Rohl has rubber stamped his name into Sheffield Wednesday history. He will always be well loved at Hillsborough.
