Man City can expect to learn the verdict of their alleged financial breaches in 2025, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking to the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the hearing, held by an independent commission, is scheduled for later this year.However, the final verdict, which will reveal the extent of any punishment, will not be announced for another year.
The Citizens were charged by the Premier League in February with 115 alleged breaches of the league’s Profit and Sustainability rules.
Premier League CEO Richard Masters confirmed that a date has been set for City’s hearing, but refused to disclose the specific time.
Man City deny the alleged rule breakages which span a nine-season period between 2009 and 2018 – a stretch where they won three Premier League titles.
Similar charges have been levelled at Everton, who were deducted 10 points in November, and Nottingham Forest this season.
City allegedly failed to provide accurate financial information, did not disclose financial remunerations given to one of their managers and did not fully cooperate with the Premier League’s investigations.
The case was first opened by the Premier League in 2018 but has taken years to complete due to the complexity and extent of the charges.Man City sit second in the Premier League table and just five points behind Liverpool with a game in hand.
